The Constitution of Links Land

Preamble: We, the people of Links Land, united under the principles of democracy, liberty, and equality, hereby establish this Constitution to define our governance, protect our rights, and ensure justice for all. As a Democratic-Constitutional Monarchy, we affirm the role of the monarchy and the will of the people in shaping the future of our nation.

Chapter 1: The Nation

Article 1: Name and Sovereignty

  1. The official name of the country shall be "The Constitutional-Monarchy of Links Land."

  2. Links Land is a sovereign, indivisible, and democratic state.

Article 2: Form of Government

  1. Links Land is a Democratic-Constitutional Monarchy.

  2. The monarchy shall be hereditary, while democratic institutions shall represent the will of the people through elections.

Article 3: National Symbols

  1. The flag, anthem, and coat of arms of Links Land shall be defined and protected by law.

  2. The capital city shall be Tentincon.

Chapter 2: The Monarchy

Article 4: The Role of the Monarch

  1. The King/Queen shall be the Head of State and a symbol of unity and continuity.

  2. The monarch shall perform ceremonial duties, represent Links Land internationally, and act in accordance with this Constitution.

Article 5: Succession

  1. The throne shall be inherited according to the rules of primogeniture.

  2. Any changes to the line of succession shall require parliamentary approval.

Article 6: Royal Powers

  1. The powers of the monarch shall include:

Chapter 3: The Government

Article 7: Structure

  1. The government of Links Land shall consist of the following senior offices:

  1. The Elected President shall be chosen by the people through democratic elections.

  1. The Vice Elected President shall assist the Elected President and assume their responsibilities in their absence.

Article 11: Speaker of the Democracy

  1. The Speaker shall preside over the legislative assembly and ensure orderly debates.

  2. The Speaker shall act impartially and protect the rights of all members.

Article 12: Anti-Corruption Safeguards

  1. All public officials shall disclose financial interests annually

  2. Independent tribunals shall investigate abuses of emergency powers and corruption, as prescribed by law.

Chapter 4: The Legislature

Article 13: Composition

  1. The legislative power shall reside in the Parliament of Links Land, consisting of two houses:

  1. Parliament shall have the authority to:

Chapter 5: The Judiciary

Article 15: Independence

  1. The judiciary shall be independent and impartial.

  2. Judges shall be appointed based on merit and protected from external influence.

Article 16: Constitutional Court

  1. The Constitutional Court shall ensure the constitutionality of laws and government actions.

  2. The court shall resolve disputes between branches of government.

  3. The Court must approve any dissolution of Parliament before it takes effect.

Chapter 6: Rights and Freedoms

Article 17: Fundamental Rights

  1. All citizens are equal before the law and entitled to the same rights and freedoms, including:

  1. An independent Media Standards Commission shall oversee content regulation.

  2. No law shall infringe on press freedom except to prevent imminent harm, as defined by statute.

Article 19: Responsibilities of Citizens

  1. Citizens shall respect the Constitution and laws of Links Land.

  2. Every citizen has a duty to participate in democratic processes.

Chapter 7: Military Governance

  1. The armed forces shall remain politically neutral

  2. Military intervention in domestic affairs requires approval by two-thirds of Parliament.
